When are organisations such as the Animal Liberation Front going to learn that the behaviour they are exhibiting is not going to gain them what they desire? This group and many like them have resorted to many different kinds of tactics in order to get their point across. Thier aim is to stop the cruelty of animals in laboratories. Which yes I agree should be stopped. But not by fire bombing peoples cars, not by smashing up peoples property and the latest in thier war against the drug companies and labs is to send out threatening letters to all smll shareholders of Glaxo SmithKline threatening to publish thier names and addressess on the world wide web if they dont sell thier shares in 14 days. They are apparently targeting these people to stop Glaxo SmithKline from using the Huntingdon Life Science labs.
When are they going to wake up and see that the people they need to approach are the Government bodies in charge of legislation? These are the people that they should be convincing to change thier legislation on Animal testing, These are the people that decide who can do what and when and where. An open approach with a valid argument is going to win them more comprimises than any strong arm illegal practices ever will. If they ever want to win themselves a place in history by changing the laws on Animal rights in Laboratory conditions then they need to first change the way that they do things, because right now the only thing they are earning themselves is a bad name and the disgust that all bullies are met with.

There ain't any public support for their cause. No one likes torturing animals but when a drugs firm says this might save your kids, the public's going to says "you crack on old son". The public don't give a toss about some poor old monkeys.
Also it ain't like they're ever going to get anywhere the government, the drugs firm have got half the mugs on retainers. Animal rights campaigners are fighting the wrong cause at the wrong time, they're never going to get anywhere, which is a good excuse for some direction action. But I reckorn most the mugs in the ALF, are more into threats and violence than they are animal welfare.

The problem is that as with genetic drugs there is no need for animal testing,as thier biology is different to ours, even the monkey. Scientists have already admitted this. They have already stated that when testing a genetic drug on animals it still has to be altered and modified to be given to humans which is how accidents and disasters like the testing fiasco a couple of months ago happen.
Most of the Animal rights groups are asking for the animals to be treated in a more humane way,the aLF undo all the good that more reasonable groups do. You are right about the Government though it is the hand with the deepest pocket that is going to win their vote.-

Testing on animals is a fast way of getting from A to B if it works with animal then you try it out on humans - as it goes there is a big scandal about them testing drugs on Indians and lying and not telling them it was a test. The treatment of animals is a legit point but the drugs companies have got the gov in their pocket and got the public by the niagras. The public will go along with anything (including testing on poor unsuspecting Indians)if there is a chance that it'll cure little Johnny.
I don't think that your reasonable animal rights protestors (the majority) are going to get very far. That's why the ALF exist.
Do you think the gov going to use all their moody anti-terror legislation on the animal rights lot? If they do I doubt they'll stop at the ALF they go after the reasonable lot too.-

They have just brought in new legislation whereby these people will no longer be able to access shareholders names and addressess, there is already new legislation in place to combat the growing number of threatining letters sent to these people.
I didn`t know about the Indians but I do know that countries such as Cuba ( Where incidently the Meningitas cure/innoculation was developed) they use life term prisoners.

Although i have a different opinion on animal testing, I do whole heartedly agre with your views on these extremists.
Sensible debate and trying to win people over to your cause through rational argument and peaceful protest is the only way forward.-

It is unfortunate that the iones that practice sensible debate are also going to feel the back lash of this.
My opinion on Animal Testing is it should stop, altogether. But,untill that happens then campaigning for more humane treatment is all that reasonable people can do.

Lets not forget that the police have only just found the skeleton of that old lady they exhumed and stole over a year ago.
